Terms of Use

For: Everyone who uses the Macrocellar app · Last updated 5 November 2026 · Version 2026-11-05.2

Draft. These documents haven’t been reviewed by a lawyer yet, and details in [square brackets] are still to be filled in.

About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Szymon Osipowicz, trading as Macrocellar (“Macrocellar”, “we”). By creating an account you agree to them, our Privacy Policy, the Health & safety notice and the Community guidelines. Coaches also agree to the Coach Terms. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Who can use Macrocellar

  • You must be at least 13. If you are under 18, please use Macrocellar with a parent or carer’s knowledge and read our guide for young people.
  • You must give accurate details, especially your birth date, because targets and safety limits depend on them.
  • One person, one account. Keep your password safe and tell us if you think someone else has used your account.

What Macrocellar is (and isn’t)

Macrocellar helps you track food, weight and progress, and lets you work with a coach if you choose to. The app is free for members. It is a general wellness tool, not medical advice and not a medical device. Please read the Health & safety notice, especially if you are pregnant, have a medical condition or have experienced an eating disorder.

Food data comes from Open Food Facts, USDA FoodData Central and other members, and may contain mistakes. Always check labels, especially for allergens.

Coaches

Coaches are independent professionals, not Macrocellar employees, and they are responsible for their own advice. We check that coaches are adults and use two-factor sign-in, but we don’t verify their qualifications. Before you join a coach, the app shows you exactly what they can see and change. You can leave a coach at any time in Settings → My coach. Any agreement or payment between you and a coach outside Macrocellar is between you and them.

Your content

You own what you add: diary entries, recipes, custom foods, notes and feedback. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, process and display it only to run Macrocellar for you (for example, showing a shared recipe to the person you shared it with). When you share a barcoded food, its nutrition (without your name) joins the shared catalogue so others can use it, and stays there if you delete your account. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without paying you.

You promise that what you share is yours to share, is accurate to the best of your knowledge and follows the Community guidelines.

Things you must not do

  • break the law, or use Macrocellar to harm, harass or mislead anyone;
  • post content that promotes eating disorders, dangerous diets or self-harm;
  • add false food data on purpose, spam, or advertise;
  • access other people’s accounts or data, or try to get round our security, rate limits or age checks;
  • copy, scrape, resell or reverse-engineer Macrocellar, or use it or its data to train AI models.

Our content

Macrocellar’s name, logo, mascot Pep, design and software belong to us or our licensors. Open Food Facts data is available under the Open Database Licence (ODbL), and USDA data is public domain. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app for yourself.

Changes and availability

We work hard to keep Macrocellar running and your data safe, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change or stop features. If we make a change that affects you significantly, or change these terms, we’ll tell you in advance in the app or by email. If you don’t agree, you can delete your account.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time (see Delete your account). We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or to protect other people. Unless there is a safety or legal reason not to, we’ll tell you why and give you a chance to download your data. You can appeal.

Our responsibility to you

If we break these terms we are responsible for loss you suffer that was a foreseeable result of our breach or our failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that wasn’t foreseeable, for decisions you make about your diet or health, or for a coach’s advice. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit. If Macrocellar damages a device or digital content belonging to you because we didn’t use reasonable care and skill, we’ll repair it or pay you compensation.

Apple and Google

These terms are between you and Macrocellar, not Apple or Google. Apple and Google have no obligation to support the app and aren’t responsible for claims about it. If you downloaded Macrocellar from the App Store, Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You must also follow the store’s own terms.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in your local courts. If you live in the EU, you also keep the protection of your country’s mandatory consumer laws. Please contact us first; most problems are quickly fixed.
